Riel House National Historic Site (Parks Canada)

A National Historic Site, Riel House was the home of Louis Riel’s family, and where their descendants continued to reside until 1969. It has since been restored to its 1886 appearance and offers a glimpse into the life of the Riel family and of the Métis at the end of the 19th century. It was in this house that Riel’s body lay in state for two days after his execution in 1885. Tours are hosted by guides dressed in period costumes.
